My free Origami (Paper Folding) 1st person video-course! Lesson N. 31 is about Children’s Day, and particularly the Japanese version of this holiday (こどもの日 – Kodomo no hi, previously known as Boys’ Day, 端午の節句 – Tango no Sekku). It takes place on May 5, as part of the Golden Week. “Before this day, families raise the carp-shaped koinobori flags (carp because of the Chinese legend that a carp that swims upstream becomes a dragon, and the way the flags blow in the wind looks like they are swimming)…” (Source: wikipedia). en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org en.wikipedia.org This model can be decorated according to one’s tastes: I decided to try (with my favourite photo-retouch software and plug-ins) to reproduce colors and patterns of some ornamental carps (a carp is a fish), like Kohaku (紅白), ginrin Kohaku, Goromo.
